Nature's Embrace

Real life. No filter.

Friday night, my husband and I drove out to Matanzas Inlet so I could look for shells. I didn’t find many, but what we found instead was nature’s embrace.

I don’t know if I’ve ever been so completely surrounded by beauty. Nature, just as it is—untouched, unbothered, simply doing its thing. And for a little while, I got to be part of it.

Standing there with my feet submerged in the calm surface of the fast-moving water, I felt like I belonged. Like I was some kind of creature of the sea—not quite a mermaid 😄, but something that was meant to be in the water. The breeze, the waves, the sky—everything felt perfectly in sync.

Everywhere I looked, beauty stretched around me: the sky, the water, the horizon, almost a full circle. It didn’t feel like I was looking at nature. It felt like I was inside it.

I found myself opening my eyes wider than I ever remember, looking up, down, and out, as if making sure what I was seeing was actually real. I wanted to take in every color, every ripple, every sound, every second.

For a few quiet moments, there was no separation between me and the ocean. Just one tiny human standing in something so much bigger than herself.

Some places don’t just take your breath away.

They gently hand it back.🌊
