Why I Made Sarahdise

Sarahdise existed long before I knew what to call it.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a habit of disappearing into creativity. Not because I wanted to escape my life, but because creating helped me make sense of it—and sometimes helped me find my way back to myself. It was where I went when I felt inspired, curious, joyful, overwhelmed, heartbroken, excited, or simply needed a little quiet from the noise of the world.

I’ve always been creative. I can sew, paint, draw, make crafts, and somehow turn almost anything into a project. Whenever we had an art assignment growing up, mine always seemed a little different. Not necessarily better—just unmistakably mine.

People would often tell me, “You should sell that.”

The problem was, I never wanted to make thousands of the same thing. I wanted the freedom to follow whatever idea sparked something in me. What I loved was creating. What I loved was watching an idea become something real. And what I loved most was sharing it with someone and seeing them stop, smile, and say, “Wait…you made that?”

That feeling has never gotten old.

When I first started arranging little broken seashells into tiny, temporary mosaics, I wasn’t trying to start a business. I was simply making something from what I found around me. I thought my creations turned out pretty cool, so I began sharing them with others. People connected with them, and their encouragement stayed with me. Before long, I was looking forward to every visit to the ocean just to see what I might find and create next.

Years later, I actually live at the beach! Moving to Florida gave me the opportunity to give this lifelong creative space a home.

I began making a website because I thought I was building a place to sell my greeting cards. But somewhere along the way, I realized it was becoming much more than that. The cards may have been the beginning, but Sarahdise was never going to be only a card shop.

It was becoming a home for pieces of me—the things I create, the stories I carry, the photographs I take, the details I notice, and the ideas I can’t stop following. It was a place where all the seemingly unrelated parts of my creativity could finally belong together.

Sarahdise is my creative refuge.

And now, it’s a place you’re invited to visit too.

So welcome to Sarahdise.

Take a look around. I hope you find something that makes you smile, makes you wonder, or reminds you to follow a little inspiration of your own.
